Empowering UF: July 11, 2023 Communication to Cabinet and Deans

July 11, 2023 7:42 pm

Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to share that we have reached a new milestone in our quest to re-engineer UF business processes and upgrade UF’s administrative systems – a change that we expect will benefit the University community for years.

During the Board of Trustees meeting in June, UF received approval to move forward with Workday as our software partner to replace our current system, PeopleSoft. This approval marks the first step in a multi-year process to implement Workday, with an anticipated go-live date in July 2027.

Work towards the Workday implementation will begin in earnest in July 2024. In the coming year, we will focus on critical activities to support a successful implementation, including identifying an implementation partner, modernizing UF’s business processes, and enhancing UF’s data governance and strategy. Regarding identifying an implementation partner, we published the solicitation on Friday, June 30, 2023.

The next steps will include:

• Reviewing vendor applications.
• Conducting the vendor selection.
• Presenting a recommendation to the President and Board of Trustees.

Those of you who participated in the Workday product demonstrations earlier this year will recall that Workday provides an opportunity for significant advances over our current system, such as access to real-time data, enhanced reporting, and cloud-based security. We expect the first systems to be implemented under the new Workday platform to support the institution’s human resources and financial functions. There will be an option to add other components, such as the Student Information System, at a future date.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me or our project team at empowering-uf@ufl.edu. Thank you for your continued support of the Empowering UF initiative.

We look forward to your continued partnership and engagement as we endeavor to re-engineer our business processes and upgrade the relevant systems.

Sincerely,

Elias G. Eldayrie
