Empowering UF: Feb. 1, 2024, Communication to Cabinet and Deans

February 1, 2024 11:10 am

Dear Colleagues,

I’m pleased to provide an update on our progress toward the official launch of the Empowering UF initiative.  Over the fall semester, we successfully completed the Workday Implementation Planning Study (IPS) and selected Deloitte as our Workday implementation partner.

During the IPS, we negotiated the project scope and contract terms, which will be discussed during the February UF Board of Trustees (BOT) Finance, Strategic Planning and Performance Metrics committee meeting.  The project budget and Deloitte contract overview will also be presented as an action item during the full UF BOT meeting in March.

While our official project start date is slated for July of 2024, work is already underway to lay the groundwork for our success:

  1. UFHR, UF Finance and Accounting, and UF Research are undertaking a thorough documentation of existing workflows at both the core office and departmental levels, noting effective practices and areas of concern, in anticipation of changes to come. This work is ongoing in partnership with departments and units throughout the UF community.
  2. UF’s Modern Data and Analytics program is working to ensure an analytics-enabled environment for UF in the months and years ahead. The outcome of this work will include extensive data cleaning, an infrastructure and common glossary for university data and governance, increasing access to and use of the newly implemented data hub, upgrading analytics and reporting toolsets, and much more.

We look forward to the challenges and rewards that lie ahead, and as always, we deeply value your partnership in this collaborative endeavor.
