Transitioning to a Modern System

Reimagining the way we do business for the next 20 years

While the university is humming away with its familiar slate of fall activities, the Empowering UF project team has begun to undertake the challenging and exciting work of reimagining how the University of Florida will conduct its business beginning in the summer of 2027 and for years beyond.

Throughout the fall semester, representatives from UF’s core business offices along with component unit and college representatives have been immersed in learning about Workday’s Foundation Data Model, or FDM, which will inform our HR, payroll, and financial processing and reporting in the future. By the conclusion of these sessions, the team will have crafted an “FDM Straw Model” that will shape the new system’s design that will get underway next spring.

Importantly, this implementation provides us not only with an opportunity to transition to a modernized system, but also enables us to re-envision and modernize our business practices. Taking a “One UF” approach, the project team is working with stakeholders throughout the university to streamline and standardize these processes for increased efficiency and enhanced experience.
