Voices: Bobby Lee

Meet Bobby Lee, Executive Director, College of Veterinary Medicine

The Office of Administrative Services and the college’s executive director, Bobby Lee, support the UF College of Veterinary Medicine in several key areas, including financial services and facilities management. Bobby has been involved as a member of both the Empowering UF Security Role Mapping Team and Foundation Data Model Mapping Team. As an engaged partner, he has been preparing his college for UF’s transition to Workday. He and his colleagues also attended an Empowering UF Spring Outreach Session.

How did you first start hearing about the Empowering UF project and our UF journey to Workday?
I heard about Empowering UF during the initial round of outreach. The Empowering UF team visited our college and provided some great information and updates during the spring outreach tour. I have also participated in some finance workgroups. The experience has been very helpful and informative. The Empowering UF team has communicated the timelines and what the future looks like in Workday. The approach has been inclusive and offers many opportunities to ask questions and understand how Workday will provide consistent workflows across UF.

How will the transition to Workday benefit you and your colleagues at the College of Veterinary Medicine?
My colleagues and I will benefit through greater efficiency and improve our capacity to support the college. Currently, we utilize spreadsheets and shadow systems to produce reports. Many of these functions will be automated and available directly to our stakeholders through Workday.

What is your personal approach to helping colleagues adapt to new technologies and ways of working?
Adapting to new technologies and workflows can be a challenge. I find it’s always good to focus on the outcomes and improvements from new technology or workflows. I often bring up specific challenges my colleagues and I have had in the past and share how the new workflow in Workday will allow us to overcome those challenges.Is there anything else you’d like to share that could help fellow staff feel receptive to Workday and learning new ways of doing things?
